241Photography is a family-run property photography and media business based in Plymouth, providing professional property marketing services throughout Devon and Cornwall.
What began with one property and one camera has grown into a business photographing homes across the region every week.
OUR STORY
Over the years we've worked with estate agents, letting agents, property developers, holiday accommodation providers and private homeowners across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.
We've photographed everything from small apartments and everyday family homes to large country properties, waterfront homes and some genuinely unusual buildings.
Photography is still at the heart of what we do, but property marketing has changed enormously. Today, alongside professional property photography, we provide property video, Matterport 3D virtual tours, floorplans, EPCs, drone photography and video, and virtual staging.
Bringing those services together means our clients can arrange much of the media they need through one local business, while maintaining a consistent look and standard across everything we produce.
Being a family business is an important part of 241Photography. Our clients get to know the photographers behind the cameras, and for many of our estate-agent clients we've become part of their regular working week.
We understand that appointments change, properties aren't always ready when expected and occasionally something needs arranging at very short notice. We try to make that side of the job as straightforward and flexible as possible.

BUT WE ALSO WANT THEM TO LOOK REAL.
We favour bright, clean and natural images that show the space clearly, retain views through windows where possible and accurately represent the colours and character of the property. A photograph should make someone want to see more while still feeling like the property they'll actually walk into.

I'm Bruce, one of the photographers at 241Photography and the person who started the business.
Photography had been a big part of my life for years before property photography came along. My background was mainly weddings and portraits, so I was used to photographing people, looking for expressions and moments and dealing with everything that comes with a wedding day.
Property photography happened almost completely by accident.
One day I received a phone call from a local estate agent who was looking for a professional photographer to photograph his properties. He asked whether I'd be interested in photographing one for him to see how I got on.
Houses don't move and they don't need to smile!”
I soon discovered the answer.
Photographing a house properly required a completely different set of skills. Instead of concentrating on people and moments, I had to learn how to balance flash with ambient light, control daylight through windows, deal with mixed lighting and find compositions that showed rooms at their best while still giving an accurate impression of the space.
That first property led to another, then another, and before long other estate agents started asking me to photograph properties for them too.
Eventually property photography grew to the point where I was able to give up my day job and concentrate on photography full-time. What had started with one speculative property shoot gradually became 241Photography and the business we have today.
Since then I've photographed thousands of properties across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall, from small flats and terraced houses to large country homes, waterfront properties and some genuinely unusual buildings.
One of the things I've always enjoyed about property photography is that you never completely master it. Every property gives you something different to deal with — the rooms, the light, the weather and the way the property needs to be shown.
My photography has changed considerably over the years too. I've experimented with different ways of shooting and editing, but gradually moved towards the style we use today: bright, clean and natural.
I want a room to look its best, but I don't want to completely change what it really looks like. Colours should look right, windows should retain their views where possible and the finished photograph should still feel believable.
I'm particularly enjoying having Jacob working alongside me now. I'm getting to pass on what I've learned while watching him develop into a photographer in his own right.
At the same time, he brings his own ideas and a different generation's perspective on photography, video and technology, which is good for both of us and for the business.
KEEP IT LOOKING REAL. And produce work we're happy to put our name on.
And after all these years, houses still don't
move or need to smile.
They're just a lot more complicated to photograph
than I originally thought.

I'm Jacob, one of the photographers at 241Photography.
Photography has been around me for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always surrounded by Dad's cameras and equipment, and I watched photography gradually develop from something he did alongside other work into the business that 241Photography is today.
As I got older, I started taking more of an interest in what he was doing. I occasionally went out with Dad on shoots and later spent time working alongside him as part of my school work experience.
That gave me my first proper look at property photography and everything that happens behind the scenes.
I quickly realised there was much more to it than arriving with a camera and taking a few photographs. Every property presents different challenges, and lighting and composition can completely change the way a room looks.
I started in September 2025 and since then I've been learning the business from the ground up.
Most of my training is hands-on. I'm working in real properties, meeting our clients and learning how to deal with the different situations that come up on shoots.
I've learned how to photograph interiors and exteriors, balance flash with natural light, compose rooms properly and produce the consistent style our clients expect from 241Photography.
I've now progressed from assisting Dad and learning alongside him to photographing properties myself. I'm taking on more responsibility as my experience grows while continuing to learn.
I'm also learning the other parts of 241Photography, including floorplans, Matterport 3D tours, property video and drone work. I'm particularly interested in the technology behind property marketing and how new ways of presenting homes can become part of what we offer in the future.
One of the things I like about joining a business that's already established is that I can learn from everything Dad has built while also bringing my own ideas to it.
Photography and property marketing are constantly changing, and I want to be part of deciding where 241Photography goes next rather than simply learning how things have always been done.
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE. Developing as a photographer while bringing new ideas, technology and a fresh perspective to 241Photography.
I want to keep developing as a photographer,
learn every side of the business and gradually
take on more responsibility.
As 241Photography grows and evolves, I want to
grow with it and play a real part in shaping
what it becomes.
It's really just the beginning.
A SMALLER FOOTPRINT
Being out photographing properties across Devon and Cornwall means we spend a lot of time on the road, so we're conscious of the environmental impact that comes with running the business.
Our main business vehicle is currently fully electric, helping us reduce the emissions associated with travelling between appointments.
We're also part of the Carbon Neutral Britain programme, through which we fund the planting of 30 trees every month.
They're relatively small steps individually, but we believe they're worthwhile ones. As the business grows, we want to continue looking for practical ways of reducing our environmental impact while still providing the flexible, local service our clients rely on.
